Max Gerl is a bassist/composer/producer from Dallas, Texas. He graduated with honors from Berklee College of Music in 2017, and has since gone on to perform internationally at the Monterey Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, etc. He has performed with Arturo Sandoval, James Francies, Jordan Rakei, Veronica Swift, Cyrille Aimee, Talib Kweli, Blaque Dynamite, Makaya McCraven, Tia Fuller, Sasha Berliner, Bernard Wright, Chris Cheek, Beka Gochiashvili, Stanley Clarke, and Cameron Graves.

In addition to performing and teaching privately as one of the first call bassists in Los Angeles, Gerl maintains a busy schedule writing and recording his own music. He released “Max Gerl”, a self – titled solo bass album, on New York – based JMI Recordings on July 28th, 2023. He also has two more completed albums due for release with JMI. Previously, Gerl produced “Wasafiri”, a jazz – fusion album of predominantly Gerl’s compositions, for Dallas – based Eastwood Music Group. The album pays tribute to the fusion legends of the early to mid 70’s, such as The Headhunters, Weather Report, etc. He released his debut album “Tbilisi” in December, 2019.
